A Quick Update

Sorry we have been slacking on the blog updates. Here are a few random pictures from the last couple months.

We have had a few interesting visitors this summer. I thought this moth was really neat. The neighbors probably think I'm crazy...I am always taking pictures of the most simple things. I can't help it....I find beauty in the simple things. (although my pictures don't always turn out beautiful!)

Our first, and ONLY camping trip this summer. Can you believe that? Only one camping trip. sooo sad!

The Moser men went to Bristol for a NASCAR race!

The melons! They were tiny, but they were delicious!!!! We have had way too many jalapenos this summer. Tom just picked 47 today!

Another friendly visitor! The picture is not that good. We probably took 20 pictures of this little guy, and just could not get a good one.

Here we are at the "Brewgrass" festival this past Saturday. This event sells out in March or April when the tickets go on sale, and Tom and I have never been able to get tickets. This year we lucked out and got tickets the night before! We had a blast, and hope to make this an annual event for us. They announced another brew fest for May 29, 2010, that will feature different music....not bluegrass. So mark your calendars and get your tickets now!
Now on to the carpet pictures.

Before.......
(Maggie obviously never passes up an opportunity to be in a picture!)

This is our bedroom. This picture really made the carpet look bad...yikes!

AFTER!!!!!
Harley is enjoying it.

Maggie approves. The dogs were so tired by this point. We kept them outside all day while the carpet was being installed, so they were not able to get their routine naps in on that day. By the time the carpet people left, Maggie and Harley could hardly keep their eyes open!

another after pic.

It's blueberry season! Yipee!! We went to our favorite picking spot, and here Harley is, enjoying a nice refreshing swim after having to stay on the leash and watch us pick berries for what must have felt like hours. Usually there is a lot of encouraging and coaxing going on to get Harley to swim, but he went right in and did this all on his own. He is such a good boy!!!

The classic berry picking pose. I think I have a picture of Tom in this pose for about every year we have lived here.

Mothra

I found this little guy while we were planting yesterday. He is so beautiful!!! We have some incredible moths around here. I like leaving the porch light on to see what will come around.....but Tom hates it :)
Oh, and for a Hawk update, he is still here! He was very active yesterday while we were outside. It was neat to watch him glide over the hills in search of food.

Ladscaping.....

We decided to do a little a landscaping today, we put down some edger blocks, a few azalea bushes, some hostas, a butterfly bush and some mulch.

Here's the baby Cantaloupe update......still growing and getting bigger!!
We've had lots of good zucchini and yellow squash lately, haven't tried the jalapenos yet!!

A quick update.......

Life here has been really hectic and busy lately. Our garden has been growing like crazy, we are very grateful for all of the rain!!

Here's some Yellow squash
Roma Tomatoes

Cantaloupe(first time we've ever grown melons)

Some big tomatoes

Zucchini (we steamed one with dinner this evening. I can't wait to make some bread too, I'm sure that we'll have plenty. Anyone know of any good recipes??)

Jalapenos

Gotta love that our douche bag neighbor put this huge white spaceship looking shed behind his house. I'm thinking about sneaking over there in the middle of the night with my paint sprayer and painting it all hunter green.

We planted a raspberry bush almost two years ago. last year we got a few good ones off of it, but this year it has really taken off, we've managed to get a couple of good handfuls so far and there are more to come!!!

The 4th of July we went, with a couple of friends, to Cincinnati. We got to see Emo, Mitzie, Julia, Riley, Dad and Deb. Thanks to Mom we got great seats to two Reds Games and stayed at her apt. which is only one block from the Great American Ball Park!!

This is us on the Roof of Mom's building

The Great American Ball Park, and in the backgroud is Paul Brown Stadium(where the Bengals get beat)

Dawn, Marcus, Trish and I

Reds Vs. St. Louis Cardinals

The view from Mom's Balcony, that's the Purple People Bridge that takes you to Newport(home of the Hofbrau Haus)

Trish had a hair appt. this week!! Here's my beautiful wife........(I'm thinking she took somewhere between 4 and 8 inches off!!!)

I went to the barber and got a little trim. After he cut my hair it was obvious that I needed a beard trim, Here's a before and after.........

Sweet Summer Time and the Treeless Lot

Sorry it has been a while since we have posted a blog. Here are some random pictures from this evening.
Have I mentioned that we LOVE these mountains?
Welcome Summer!!!
With the treeless lot behind us now, we can see ALL of the mountains behind us. This is from the kitchen window. We are hoping that the neighbors will want to take the privacy fence down...now that we know they are not going to put a small trailer park back there! This area is also my favorite planting spot...from L to R- Iris *in tree stump, Lilac bush (look how big it is mom!), and some raspberries at the corner of the chain link fence! I am SO excited about the raspberries!
destruction :(

UGH!
Killer bees under the deck! I say bees, Tom says yellow jackets....what ever they are, they are mean and they sting! Tom got rid of them this afternoon with a well planned out attack involving 2 cans of bug killer! These mean little guys stung Harley, so obviously they had to die!
Here is the garden we planted yesterday! It's a bit smaller than last year, but will hopefully yield more this time around! Cantaloupe, tomatoes (3) jalapeno (5!) yellow squash (2) green squash, and cilantro! I bet you would never guess that salsa is my favorite food ;)

Sunday Beef Tenderloin!!!

Dad and Deb sent us home with a whole Tenderloin of Beef this past Christmas, so Yesterday we invited some friends over for a Sunday Meal. I got a recipe from my uncle, and it turned out really well!!! (One of our guests very rarely eats beef, pretty much never, but she did and really liked it!!) I seared the tenderloin on the charcoal grill, then wrapped it in a homemade salt and fresh herb dough, then baked it for about 35 minutes. I had Trish take some pictures so we could share them with you all. If only this blog offered smell-o-vision!!! Maggie is a good helper whenever I fire up the grill, or maybe just a begger.

This is Baby Marissa Closter(Seth and Amy's little girl) Too Cute!!! She's such a happy baby, but I'm sure it was sensory overload for her, there were 6 of us and 3 dogs, and it was the first time she had been to our house and met our pups.

Harley is no dummy, he waits patiently for any hand outs, right next to the kitchen.

Hiking Yesterday, Snowing Today

And we thought Indiana had crazy weather!
It was 57 degrees yesterday, and we took full advantage of that warm sunshine!
Here are a few pictures from our hike.
I saw a giant grasshopper in this area. Should they be out in February??
I know we have blogged about this trail before, and some of the pictures may look familiar, but it's our favorite!! (mine anyway!) It is wide, and there is rarely anyone on it. We didn't have to put the dogs on the leash at all. Oh, and do you see that view?? It is very rewarding when you get to the top! :) aaaahhhhhh, mountains!

Harley, a true mountain dog.
It's a good hike if Maggie looks like this at the top! She is also wore out from catching her first squirrel! Thats right, the 82 pound beast caught a squirrel! Thankfully she did not hurt it. Tom and I were yelling at her, so she gave up on it. We were afraid that she would not know what to do with it, and that she would end up battered after the altercation!
